Bourjois Delice de Poudre Bronzing Powder AKA 'Chocolate Bronzer' Review

As reluctantly as I am to admit it, I have finally succumbed to the hype regarding Bourjois' infamous 'chocolate' bronzer. And yes, I know I am seriously late with the purchase of this, as it has been a cult blogger product for ages now, but I have only recently started purchasing Bourjois products!

First of all, let me just say this product has already earnt itself a top place in my everyday make up bag. After being on my wish list for quite some time now, I finally found myself popping it into my basket in boots the other week. And do I regret that one second decision? Absolutely not.

I really like the colour of this bronzer (I chose shade 52) because it is not too light nor too dark. The bronzer claims to "give an immediate boost to your complexion" as well as "enhance your beauty", and Bourjois have got this description head on! As soon as I've applied just the tiniest amount I feel as if I've just arrived home from a Mediterranean break! Also, some bronzers that I have tried previously either have very orang-ey or 'muddy' undertones, and let's face it - not all of us are in favour of the 'TOWIE' AKA the 'satsuma' look. But, aside with the joking, the colour provides that perfect 'sunkissed' look, and is blends really well, making it perfect for contouring. Also, in the height of summer it can be blended out to create a subtle glow on those minimal make up days, or if you're going out it can be built up a bit more! Furthermore, the bronzer is also 'filled with glints of sunshine'. Although this shimmery look may put some people off, let me tell you, it really is nothing to worry about. It's ever so subtle, and if I'm honest I really like it because I think it adds to the overall summery glow the product provides. But don't be put off- the 'shimmer' is very apparent in the pan but barely shows up on the skin once applied!

Considering this bronzer only cost £6.99, the texture of the product feels like a high end product to me, its a firm-pressed powder, but unlike I expected, it isn't hard to pick up this bronzer with a brush, and there is no 'poof' of excess powder that I find occurs in other powders and bronzers.

Another factor that has added to the very large hype surrounding this product is the very cute, as well as practical packaging and design. Not only does the product look like a bar of chocolate upon opening, but the packaging comes in a 'book' design, that shuts using a strong magnetic strip. This means, that unlike other powders and bronzers that close with a sheer lid, that falls off in your make up bag very easily, it stays shut, making it incredibly practical and convenient! Plus, its pretty thin so it easily slots into your makeup bag or handbag! The only suggestion I am going to make (I have seen this suggestion on many other reviews too) is if Bourjois were to insert a compact mirror on the other side of the bronzer for on the go touch-ups! But for £6.99, who really can complain!

But lets look at the main attraction - the smell! Bourjois claims this product smells chocolatey, - "It's delicious perfume and ultra-soft texture will make you melt with pleasure". At first, I felt this bronzer smelt like any other perfumed bronzer, but after taking a deep sniff, and asking my family what they thought it smelt like, I've come to the conclusion it smells of cocoa beans (not your average bar of dairy milk as I had anticipated) with a hint of vanilla. Either way, it smells simply amazing, and I can see where the attraction lies.

So, for the time being, this product has a permanent place in my make up bag, and if you've not tried Bourjois Delice de Poudre yet, I thoroughly urge you to pop into boots next time your in town! Give it a try, and you never know, you might fall in love with it just like I have.

Lots of love, Lauryn x
