LIEBSTER AWARD

Let me just start off by saying I am truly astounded at all of the positive feedback I have received since starting this blog, a little over a day ago! Although to many of you somewhat 'famous' blogs out there in the bloggersphere, 5 followers on Bloglovin' or just over a hundred pageviews probably doesn't mean all that, but me on the other hand...well lets just say I've had a mammoth grin spread across my little face all day. To think that people actually want to listen to me rambling on regularly, it really is mind-blogging! (see what I did there? I changed 'boggling' to 'blogging', *claps goofily to self*)

Right, again with the rambling on, I do apologise. So lets get to what this post is all about. (Now my mind has decided to wander off yet again and I am now singing the Hokey Cokey to myself - "That’s what it’s all about." Oh dear.) Anyway, lets finally get on with things. I am truly honoured to be able to say that I have been nominated for the Liebstar Award (
as you can see from the title of this dear little post)by the lovely Sascha from Feathers and Butterflies (honestly take a peek at her blog and give her a follow, she is the sweetest and her blog is lovely too!) Okay, so you are probably wondering why on earth I am using German words on my blog. The Liebster Award is an award that bloggers with less than 200 followers are nominated for. It is a great way for smaller scale blogs to get involved in the larger blogger community, for them to receive a little recognition and also to find other small blogs where you can share tips on getting started and so on. So, after being nominated I conducted a little research. According to Google Translate 'Liebster' translates directly to 'Dearest'. I felt the name was very fitting, becuase so far in the bloggersphere I have found everybody cares about one another and is always willing to offer some advice, so really, everybody is 'dear' to the blogging community!

But there are a few sneaky rules to the Liebster/Dearest award, so lets take a look at them: (these rules were taken from feathers and butterflies, with full permission!)

  1. You can include 11 random facts about you if you want (and who wouldn’t, eh?)
  2. You have to link back to the person that nominated you
  3. You must answer all 11 questions set by the person that nominated you
  4. You have to nominate 11 other bloggers with under 200 followers and notify them that you have passed the award on to them (no tagging me back!)
  5. You have to come up with 11 new questions for your nominees

So, I think a good place to start with would be the 11 facts about myself. (Is it just me who finds 11 a very odd number to have set?)

  1. I used to be a bit of a tomboy in primary school, (and its not a well kept secret that I still regularly climb trees, ride my bike and do 'boyish' things, etc (just been slightly sexist erm, lets forget about that shall we?) but in the past couple of years I have become an utter beauty and fashion enthusiast!
  2. I am a devoted bookworm, you probably will not find me without a book within a few feet. Because of my passion for reading, I feel that this has helped me to become more confident, improve my writing skills, and this hobby has also led to me volunteering twice a week at my local library.
  3. I could probably drink cups of tea (fairly strong with 1-2 sugars if you ever feel like making me a cuppa) for the rest of my life as my only beverage.
  4. My ideal career is a journalist, editor or columist, or any job that allows me to be 'free' with my work and lets me travel. (Which leads us on nicely to my next fact)
  5. Before I die I aim to visit as many places in the world as possible.
  6. According to everybody I know, I have weird eating habits - I eat raw pasta as well as frozen peas and sweetcorn on a regular basis (please let me know in the comments or tweet me here if you eat these too, I would love to prove my family wrong and show them that I really am not as weird as they say I am!)
  7. I am a 'glass half full' kind of girl.
  8. Floral/vintage patterns or homewares are my shopping weakness. I could literally buy every item in cath kidston given the chance!
  9. I cannot stand any form of grammar misuse or 'text talk' - I am a complete grammar geek!
  10. My music taste varies, I adore the 'golden oldies', I love indie/pop rock, but I'm also fairly into some of the music that comes out of the Top UK 40!
  11. I am completely, head over heels in love with the Parma Violets scent! I have soaps and candles all in this scent, without mentioning the never ending haul of the sweets themselves!

If I am totally honest, that took me a while to come up with those facts, thinking about yourself  so critically and putting it into 11 facts proved rather difficult! So for the next part of the Liebster Award, I have to answer all 11 questions set by the lovely Feathers and Butterflies  -Here we go!

1.     What’s one piece of advice you have for other bloggers?

Just go for it! (It may be a blunt answer but it's an honest one!) Regarding a blog, when you are unsure whether people will respond positively to a new post, I really think you just just click publsih, because even if it isn't that great a post, whatever you write now will be washed away by the hundreds of posts that will follow it so just write away and see where it takes you!

2.     Who is your idol?

Many people would answer this with a celebrity name, but without a doubt my idol is my Nan :-) Ever since I was a few hours old she has been my rock, and I aspire to be like her when I am older; grounded, happy, family-orientated and generally a lovely, loving individual. If you ever see this Nan, I love you millions:-)

3.     What is one wardrobe staple you can’t live without?

This is a tricky one, but it has to be jewellery- this either makes or breaks an outfit. My swatch watch is always present in every outfit, as is a ring, earrings and usually a necklace. I find jewellery really adds a sprinkle of sophistication into any outfit!

4.     If you had to choose between fashion and beauty, which one would you pick?

I think i would choose beauty, because I am more than happy to lounge around the house all day in my pjs, but it is on these days I love a little pamper!

5.     What is your favourite dessert?

It has to be biscuits (preferably custard creams or morrisons own brand chocolate chip cookies!) and a cup of tea - nothing beats it!

6.     Where do you see your blog taking you in the next 5 years?

I really have no clue on this one! Where I would love to see it take me? To making new friends, going to blog awards and helping with a future career! But as for now I will stay pretty grounded and just go with the flow!

7.     Do you have a favourite book?

As a bookworm there are so many books that I could list here, but when it comes to it, it would definately have to be '13 reasons why' by Jay Asher. I highly recommend it, it so heres the link; http://www.waterstones.com/waterstonesweb/products/jay+asher/thirteen+reasons+why/6737629/ Get purchasing!!

8.     If you had to live off one dish for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Hmm, most likely a good ol' Christmas dinner, there's nothing quite the same!

9.     What is your dream holiday?

I would absolutely love to road trip across america in an ice cream van. (This is slightly weird I know)

10.     What is your favourite TV show?

I have never really got into a TV show - not to the extent of runnning round the house like a headless chicken if I miss the beggining by 0.1 seconds! But if I had to...well

then it would be Waterloo Road or 24 hours in a&e!

11.     Do you like cheese? (She’s The Man fans will understand this one ;) )

Nope, not a 'She's the man' fan, in fact I am unaware of what that even is? A Tv show? Possibly. must add it to my 'to-do' list. But back to the question, I kind of

have a love-hate relationship with cheese, it really depends on the type, but for example I love cheese on pizza, whereas a cheese sandwich...*ugh*.

So..without further ado, my nominees for the Liebster award are...(Currently feeling like Ant and Dec)...*Drumroll please*...

Okay, so we're almost done with this incredibly lengthy post. So here are the questions that I have carefully thought out:

  1. Is there a particular blog that inspires you?
  2. Do you prefer to read or watch films?
  3. If you could only blog about one brand for the rest of your time in the bloggersphere, what brand would it be?
  4. Where do you see your blog taking you in the next year?
  5. If a new blogger happened to contact you asking for some advice on starting up, what would you say to them?
  6. Straight or curly hair?
  7. If you became stranded on a desert island, what one luxury item would you choose to bring with You?
  8. What is your dream holiday destination, and would it be action filled or a relaxing break away?
  9. What's your favourite, holy grail beauty product?
  10. On your own blog, what's your favourite blog post?
  11. What do you like to do when you're not blogging?

Okay, so that's it. I do apologise once again for rambling on so much, and making this one of the longest ever posts imaginable in the bloggerspshere! (I also think it has got more and more boring as it goes on, this post really did take forever to write).

Although I have now finished this post (FINALLY), I also feel like I have 100KG weights dangling from my eyelids, and my head feels as if it is being repeatedly smashed with a hammer. (Oops, sorry for the violent descriptions, but at least it gives you a little idea of how much blood sweat and tears went into the creation of this post. Only joking, at least I'll have nice toned fingers after all these hours of typing!!)

Once again the fact you have spent a few minutes (probably more like half an hour) reading this post really does mean a lot, and I appreciate every one of you who has responded with positive feedback to my blog so far!

Much Love, Lauryn.
