Maybelline Rocket Volum' Express Mascara Review

Buy it here!

As girls, we all know that feeling. When you go to apply your mascara but its gone. That's right, vanished into thin air. So when that dreaded day arrives, and you find your mascara has run out, it becomes your top priority mission to find your 'holy grail' mascara. (Who cares, it gives us girls an excuse to go shopping! After reading countless reviews and scouring the internet for hours on end, you must narrow it down to 'the one'. That mascara you've chosen must tick all of the boxes; design, price, brush style, colour, waterproof-ness and so on, not forgetting the fact it must have amazing reviews! For me, after all of  this, the mascara that stood out was the Maybelline Rocket Volum' express. Now, Maybelline are known for their miraculous mascaras- for under a tenner they give you amazing volume, length, colour and a bit of a curl. So I was swayed, and sprinted to my nearest boots. And it seemed fate was in my side, as the Maybelline 3 for 2 offer meant I also picked up two Baby lips! You can have a look at my review post Here

Now before I start rambling on- let me get my one planned point across- I adore, love, worship, treasure, (and any other love-related words included) this mascara. With my stumpy lashes, I never believed there would be a day when a mascara made them look like those lashes you see on TV (maybe not quite, but you get the picture!) anyway, out of all of the mascaras I have ever tested this is so far 'The one'!

So lets get down to what you want to hear, or the 'nitty gritty' stuff as my mum would call it; aka the actual reviewing part.

The brush. The brush of a mascara is a bit like Marmite - you either love it or hate it! Before purchasing 'The Rocket' I had never applied mascara using a plastic brush/wand, but boy was I missing out! Compared to the usual mascara wand/brush (not sure what to call it!) the plastic (let's stick with wand) is much sturdier, compared to the flimsiness of other wands (now I sound like I belong in Harry Potter, hmph) anyway, plastic wands are truly a godsend. When I first opened this mascara, I was shocked to see how stumpy the individual bristles were. But I really shouldn't have worried, the brush is an absolute dream to use, I can reach every single lash, and the tiny bristles do a 5 star job of separating all of your lashes, making it look as if you have even more lashes than you actually do!

Whilst some mascaras simply claim to be '100% waterproof' (yet leave you with huge panda eyes whilst you step out of the shower!) this mascara does not do that, it is completely and utterly waterproof! But here, the negative lies, as much as I hate to say it, this mascara is a pain to remove- it's very stubborn and doesn't come off without a fight. But then again, with the right cleanser it shouldn't be an issue (well, I hope not!)

Price. This mascara (for the waterproof mascara) costs £7.99 for the 10ml. Is it just me, or is this amazing value for money? Yup, Maybelline, you've hit it spot on once again.

If I'm honest, I was apprehensive about doing this post, because everybody has different eyelashes, and it really depends on your eyelashes as to what mascara you choose. But then I thought, surely everybody has different skin types, and we all continue to read them?! So, I guess what I'm trying to say is, if you have stumpy lashes like me then this mascara is ideal, I really advise you to pop this into your shopping basket next time your in town!

Much love, Lauryn x
