Its fair to say we all have that one product that we class as our skincare hero. Whether your problem be spots, dry skin or overly-greasy skin, we've all fell in love with a product that does wonders for our skin. For me, this knight in shining armour came in the form of the Michael Todd Blue Green Algae Antibacterial Toner.
Toners. For months on end I wondered what the real purpose of them was. I assumed they were another over-hyped-but-not-necessary kind of product, but oh was I wrong. Once my birthday arrived and I had a little heavier purse, I decided to make the leap and buy one. After reading an endless amount of shining reviews, I took the plunge and sat waiting by my front door for the postman!
This product is from the Company Michael Todd. If you're British, its likely you've never heard of this brand before as it is an online American company. As risky as it is buying foreign goods online as you don't know whether the website is trustworthy or not, I had to go ahead as I had heard so many good things about the brand, and in particular this toner. Being a teenager, my main skin concern in my spots. Although I am very lucky not to have an extreme case of acne, I still feel self-conscious when my skin decides to become a hotel for spots. Hence, this toner being antibacterial, and claiming to, "aid in treatment and prevention of acne" meant it already gained a big thumbs up from me before I had even added it to my basket!
Considering this product came from america, delivery was pretty quick and 11 days after I excitedly clicked 'confirm order' this little wonder was sitting proudly on my bedside table.
One thing that attracted me to this product, apart from its antibacterial properties, is the fact that it is 97% organic! This means it includes no alcohol whatsoever, and I have made it very clear before that I always look for 0% alcohol in any product! Organic products are so much friendlier towards your skin, and rather than leaving your skin red, sore and dry this toner leaves your skin feeling smooth, visibly brightened and smelling great! So this leads me onto the scent of this product - it smells am-aaaaa-zing! At first I was a little sceptical on this smell, its very strong. And when I say very strong, I mean it leaves your room smelling like lavender for the next 15 minutes. And whilst this took a little while to get used to, I luuurrrvveee it now! The lavender smell makes you feel really calm - and so does your skin! Not to mention, this toner leaves skin feeling great after use and not tight like most toners that make you run for your moisturiser!
As this is an american product, the prices are a little confusing. I think it worked out at about £14 for me, including delivery to the UK (which was about £6!), but I was lucky enough to spot a tweet telling me about a code for 30% off which I happily took! However I know Michael Todd are often giving offer codes out on their twitter so I would give them a follow as you can save quite a bit! Normally, this product retails at $18, so that works out at around £11 plus P&P (thank you Google currency!).
So if you think that toners aren't worth the hassle, think again. I strongly advise you head over to Michael Todd this second and check out their uber fab range! I'm already considering buying the entire range (which will only ever be a dream mind you!). Because I love you all so much, I sent a little tweet to Michael Todd and asked them if they had any offer codes floating around for you lot at the moment! So, if you enter 'acnefree' at the checkout you'll receive 20% off! Yay!!
Much love, Lauryn x
