Origins Ginzing Energy-Boosting Moisturiser Review

Origins Ginzing Energy Boosting Moisturiser, to give it is full (and well deserved) title, is brilliant, to put it simply. Think Terry's chocolate orange in a jar and you're already half way there imagining what this product is like. Or as Origins like to call it, an energy drink for your skin. As lovely as winter is; hot chocolates on a crisp autumn morning; wrapping up in cosy jumpers and being able to avoid shaving your legs, one thing that is not so great about winter is the effect it has on our skin. As the long, dark winter days slowly descend upon us, our skin begins to look dull, tired and dry due to lack of sunlight. In my opinion, there is no better excuse to update your skin care routine than with a new season fast approaching, so this little moisturiser made a rather lovely little change!

The moisturiser is a gel formulation, meaning that it hydrates the skin without being too overwhelming. It's also surprisingly lightweight and sinks in the skin almost immediately, leaving no excessive shiny patches on the skin-making it a brilliant base for foundation.

One of the best things about this moisturiser is that a little goes a long way. Unlike some moisturisers where you need to apply an 'egg-sized' amount in order to fully cover your face, you only need a small amount to do that. Origins have created a moisturiser that manages to leave your skin feeling supple, smooth and hydrated using only a little, which is great - more for your money, eh!

But lets look at the main attraction of this product; the energy boosting properties. Origins claim that the moisturiser makes skin 'glow' in order to wake up dull, tired skin. Containing caffeine (sourced from coffee beans), Panax Ginseng, shea butter and other wondrous things such as Grapefruit, spearmint and citrus oils, this lovely blend manages to give your skin that well and truly needed 'boost'. Panax Ginseng and caffeine are two ingredients in particular that aid the skin boosting properties. According to Origins, these ingredients aid the optimisation of cellular energy in order to help condition and repair the skin in one quick step - creating that ever so desired 'glow'. I guess it really does put a 'zing' in your skin!

At £23, this moisturiser is a little on the pricey side if you're a student like me. However, in comparison to some other higher-end lotions and potions out there, this does match up well price-wise. Especially as a little goes a long way, and with 50ml this moisturiser should last a good few months!

The only improvement that Origins could take on board would be to include SPF. We've all been warned of the dangers of not using SPF; but it really is essential in a daily moisturiser. Lets face it - nobody really wants premature ageing, 'sun' spots, and dry, 'tight' skin.

So, for the time being, this product has a permanent place in my everyday skincare routine, and if you've not tried the Origins Ginzing Energy Boosting moisturiser yet, I thoroughly urge you to give it a try; and you never know, you might fall in love with it just like I have.

  2. I LOVE THIS! It's my holy grail moisturiser after I purhcased it back in August. My skin is really tricky because it's not really that dry and any cream just will not sink it, so this works amazingly for me and I'm so glad I decided to buy it! It smells so gorgeous too which is always a plus when waking up so early everyday haha

    1. I'm pretty sure that it will become mine too! My spots have also seemed to clear up since using it which is a HUGE bonus! I have oily skin so the fact that it is oil-free really appeals to me! Yep , the strong Terry's chocolate orange smell does seem to help me wake up on these dark winter mornings! Although its recommended to use at night too, and its quite relaxing too:) Thanks for the lovely comment, Lauryn xx
