“A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.”
Ever since the iconic woman under the name of Coco Chanel uttered these infamous nine words, the way that fashion and beauty once enveloped our daily lives altered forever.
Fashion has changed dramatically in the last decade. From fashion being viewed as a ridicule serving only for the rich in centuries gone by, to the famous invention of Mary Quant in 1966 labelled the ‘Mini Skirt’, to flower power induced flares in the 70s, to an entirety of mish-mashed fashion styles in the last decade, fashion can successfully say ‘been there, done that’. The truth is, it’s not only us who are attempting to keep up with the constantly emerging new trends; companies and designers alike are forever thinking of new innovative methods to get THAT skirt out before any other shop. It’s common for some friendly competition; business is all about putting that extra foot forward. And that is why I would like to introduce you to a site that has done exactly that.
http://beauty-steals.co.uk/ is such a site. This company has spent a hefty amount of time planning to be ahead of the game. Following in some of the biggest brands out there *cough* Asos *cough*, http://beauty-steals.co.uk/ is an online site dedicated to providing you exactly what you’re after. The team over at the sight has recognised the opportunities e-commerce provides; there is no need for any of the usual stress-inducing shop malarkey; consumers can shop from the comfort of their own home and you can extend your audience globally, 24/7. It’s a no-brainer when you consider it really. So it came as an even greater shock to me when I realised that the site specialises in proving high end brands at a fraction of the price. And I’m not talking about the smashed, out of date and crusty make up you expect to find (Poundland I’m looking at you), but the pictures are high quality, and of high end products!
From staring at my Mum's make up when I was 5, to shakily applying wonky eyeliner at the age of 11 for a school disco, to writing reviews on a weekly basis, my love for beauty, and addiction to skincare seems to be ever expanding. As a result, (and a result of a teenagers budget) I am always looking for (excuse the pun) Beauty Steals. Thus, this site seemed like the perfect opportunity. The site incorporates a range of products that you long after with eager, wide eyes, to unique gifts for any person. I should know, I have some rather tricky friends when it comes to present-buying and this site provides products that tick all of the boxes.
The website encompasses a range of all sorts; yet this does nothing to dampen the magic of having cheaper high end goodies at your finger tips. The products are split into four main categories; cosmetics; skincare; accessories and jewellery. Within each of these categories you are greeted by an array of beautiful products, that you cannot help but click on for more information. However, if these categories don't cut it for you, then you can also narrow your product selection down by choosing a particular brand or price. The brands include Benefit, OPI, MAC and Katie Wu, just to name a few. (That alliteration was not intentional, I swear.) On top of this, you have the option of selecting by price. The price ranges are as following; £0 – 5.00, £5.00 – 10.00, £11.00 – 15.00, £16 – 25 and £26- 50. These price ranges cater for every budget, which I think adds added appeal to the site.
As for the style of the site, its clear with a consistent house style. I would describe it as elegant, with just the right sprinkle of 'fabulous' and 'fun' thrown into the mix. The site is easy to navigate, with clear, concise options and a naviagtion bar that is easily accessible at all times. The search bar is at the top, which is one of the plus' of the design as I know the exasperating feeling of oggling over a webpage in order to find a search bar but never finding one, and so clicking off the site. *cough* H&M *cough*. In addition to this, you can also compare two products. I have often flitted between webpages in order to agonisingly choose my preffered item. However, on http://beauty-steals.co.uk you can instantly compare the specifications of the two products, meaning that making a decision is hell of a lot more easy.
Without being aware of it, I have unkowingly complied a cheeky wishlist of products from the site in my head. As per usual, headed over to the ever so used Polyvore in order to create a little inspo-wishlist!
I love the simplistic beauty and easy naviagtion of this site. Its fun, inviting, easy to use, and helpful, wihtout mentioning the vast array of wonderful products http://beauty-steals.co.uk/ has to offer, and at discount prices!!
